about
Ruth Avra has been creating jewelry for over 20 years. She began when she was barely 10 years old selling her beaded jewelry everywhere from the beach on vacation to her parents' dinner parties. As she grew up, so did her passion for jewelry. In 2001, she received a degree in Art Jewelry at the University of Wisconsin Madison where she learned traditional jewelry-making under mentor and celebrated artist, Eleanor Moty. After studying in Italy at the famed Art Studio Fuji, Ruth worked with several different designers in New York before moving to South Florida to launch her own company.
Drawing inspiration from nature, Ruth's pieces combine traditional metal-working techniques with an obvious talent and passion for metalwork. Every piece of jewelry - including its components - is always made by Ruth Avra herself, allowing for perfectly handmade work with the utmost quality and attention to detail. Ruth explains, "My heart and soul goes into each piece, I love what I do and it shows in my work". Ruth loves to make sure her work is different and special; she incorporates exotic materials such as stingray and even handmade paintings as the backdrop for her unique designs. Ruth also loves to travel and takes every opportunity to follow the road less traveled, where she often finds inspirations for her newest designs in the environment around her. |
